Born in Barcelona, he began his musical studies at the Conservatorio del Liceu. Later he studies four years with Mati Pince. Álex Vicens participates as a student in master classes with the eminent tenor Carlo Bergonzi, Jaume Aragall and Alfredo Krauss. And continues his training at Indiana University, where he completes his studies with the interpretation of Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. He is currently overseen new projects and works with the magnificient soprano Virginia Zeani in WPBeach U.S. and with the great tenor Jaume Aragall in Barcelona.
Among the many awards received stand out: the 1st prize of the contest Lieder Tzvetana Dyackovitch in Sofia (Bulgaria) and in the contest Francesc Viñas Barcelona (Spain) 2nd Prize mail singer Gran Teatro del Liceo, Plácido Domingo award for the best spanish singer, prize for the best Zarzuela singer.In Schwerin (Germany) he receives the Medal of Merit Friederich von Flotow.
Among his interpretation highlights: Rodolfo in La Bohème, Duca in Rigoletto, Verdi's Requiem, Werther in the eponymous opera in the repertoire belcantistico, Nemorino in Elisir d'amore, Tebaldo in Capuleti ei Montecchio, Edgardo in Lucia. He always receives a great welcome from the public and critics.
He has sung in many important venues as Staatsoper in Stuttgart, Baden Baden Festpielhaus, Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Innsbruck Tiroler Landestheater, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Graz, Klagenfurt Stadttheater, Palm Beach Opera and in the Gran Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona.
His most important projects for the current and upcoming 2009-10-11season are: La Bohème and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Landestheater Innsbruck, A Night of Zarzuela, La tavernera del puerto and Fernando in Doña Francisquita at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Teatro Campo Amor de Oviedo y Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona and concerts in Spain, Hungary, France, Germany, Austria and the USA.
